Why Should You Consider Rooftop Solar?

Our first question to you is typically "What are you hoping to achieve by investing in solar?". Common responses we hear are:

  • Future-proofing
  • Lower power bills and
  • Environmental sustainability.

Renewable energy from the sun allows you to lower your electricity bills, and the cost of solar power has dropped by over 90% in the last decade. So, yes, it is generally considered a "no brainer" to invest in solar IF you have have a suitable roof for the panels.

Solar panel systems are usually “grid-connected”, meaning you sell power to the energy retailer if you do not use it all within the home or business. HEG™ will assess your property for appropriate spots for solar and determine technologies based on shading considerations, aesthetics, available roof space, household electricity requirements and other factors.

Whilst solar is a fantastic investment, we always advise to make your house more energy efficient first i.e. save energy rather than generate it.

Rooftop Solar Simulation

Utilising professional simulation software, HEG™ is able to simulate the savings that will be produced by different configurations of panels on your roof. This uses historical irradiance (sunshine) data for your specific area, factors in the orientation and tilt of panels, and compares this to your previous power bill data.

Additionally, a financial assessment of your rooftop solar investment is estimated, including annual savings on your power bill, return on investment and payback period.

Using satellite or aerial photographs, or overlaying roof plans, we are accurately able to tell how many panels will fit on particular roof faces.

HEG, Your Trusted Solar Installation Partner

We have been selling, installing and servicing solar PV systems since 2011.

HEG™ are experts at specifying and installing rooftop solar that is appropriate for your current and anticipated future needs. We create a Solar Proposal that simulates the effect that rooftop solar will have on your power bills, which allows us to present a payback period (years taken to recover the initial investment based on power bill savings) and :

    • Power bills and energy tariffs,
    • Heating and hot water (including hot water timers)
    • Anticipated changes (extensions, family, electric vehicles)
    • Available roof space & electrical infrastructure
    • Budget, government incentives & financing options

Solar Options

Solar Monitoring – typically built into most solar inverters.

Hot Water Timers – stops hot water from re-heating during peak tariff periods or tries to re-heat during peak solar energy periods

Household Consumption Monitoring – a device that allows you to see when you use power in the house, e.g. you visually see an increase on a graph when you turn on an oven, air conditioner or heater. Monitoring consumption will typically lead to more efficient use of energy within your household.

Tariff Optimisation – selecting appropriate energy retailers and energy plans can save you hundreds of dollars extra each year.

HEG™ have completed an installation using Jinko 440W solar panels for this rooftop solar system in Prospect! The biggest advantage of HEG™ rooftop solar is the considerable savings on annual power bills after we optimise energy tariffs and apply hot water timers to ensure off-peak rates

Rooftop Solar

HEG™ has installed a rooftop solar on a residential house, utilising 440W Jinko panels (30 year performance warranty, 25 year product warranty) and a GoodWe MS-Series inverter (10 year warranty, 3 x MPPT). Please note - your eyes aren’t crooked and the panels and roof aren’t bent, but the camera photo did make it look slightly distorted!

HEG™ have completed a lovely installation of a 5.81kW rooftop solar system in Berriedale! This system was constrained by roof space, but will serve to take a hefty chunk out of the annual power bills of this happy customer. Panels are slightly offset on the top row to accommodate the shape of the roof and to keep it aesthetically pleasing with the alignment
