Standard installation fees apply to a standard back-to-back installation on a single brick or weatherboard wall, where the length of piping between the internal and external units of the heat pump doesn’t exceed 4 metres, and the unit is installed during regular business hours, and additional work to access or clear the area is not required, with a deposit paid during the promotion period.

Additional fees apply in the following circumstances:

  1. Travel – the job address is further than 30Km from Launceston or Hobart ($1.50 per kM return outside of the 30km radius);

  2. Height – the heat pump location is not on the ground floor of a dwelling i.e. it requires ladder or elevated platform work (hourly fee of $150 per team for additional time);

  3. Pipe runs – the length of piping between the inside and outside unit is greater than 4 metres; a $55 per linear meter fee applies, which covers additional twin copper cables, condensate drain pipe, electrical cable and additional labour. Additionally, if additional work is required to lift roofs, drill through verandah floors, dive sub-floor, drill through concrete bases and other non-standard work, then then a standalone electrician is $90/hour, or $150/hour for a two man team.

  4. Cable runs – if the length of cable from the external unit to the switchboard or applicable sub-board is greater than 10m, or if cables need to be run sub-ground or in the air, then a time and materials fee applies.

  5. External unit mounting – assumes mounting of outside unit of level concrete or pavers. Additional for polyslab ($35), wall brackets ($90), roof brackets ($225), extra thick walls, such as a chimney breast or double brick ($75) or multiple storey (time and materials).

  6. Switchboard upgrade or meter upgrades: subject to a meter box inspection by an electrician to ensure that it complies with mandatory electrical standards or electrical policies. The electrician will discuss any required changes prior to commencement of the works.

If this heat pump quotation is a remote quotation, then HEG reserves the right to charge additional fees due to newly discovered characteristics or obstacles that weren’t adequately conveyed, or couldn’t reasonably be foreseen, during the remote quotation process.

Heat Pump Unit Locations

To ensure that the installation team have as much information regarding the job beforehand, if you have not had an onsite inspection, we request that you email three pictures to info@heg.com.au together with your name and job address:

  1. Switchboard – please ensure that the writing under the circuit breakers or fuses is able to be read, and that the picture shows all of the switchboard in the one photo; it is OK to take a couple of photos if this is hard to achieve.

  2. Proposed inside location of where the heat pump “head” will be located; please stand back 3m or 4m from the proposed location to take the photo so that the location is shown in context.

  3. Proposed outside location of external unit of heat pump. Once again, please ensure that the photo shows the context of where the outside unit is. The external unit needs to have access to a continual flow of fresh air, otherwise it will detract from the performance of the heat pump, and could result in the unit entering defrost mode more frequently.

Customer Specifications & Change Requests

We welcome changes by customers as we want to deliver products and services that you are happy with. However, we do need to highlight that some changes do incur costs to HEG, which we reserve the right to charge for. This includes substantial changes to the position of the internal or external units, or changes to the positioning of an outlet or outlets (in the case of a ducted system). Some changes may mean that the job cannot start at the designated time, and that a re-design of the heat pump system needs to occur, or alternative parts and materials sourced, all of which take time. If you would like to make changes, please contact us beforehand, if possible, by calling the office on 1300 96 80 60 or emailing info@heg.com.au, preferably at least 1 business day prior to the job. Please note: minor changes do not incur charges.

Deposits

If you are self-funding the purchase, a minimum deposit of either 50% of the anticipated supply and install cost is required prior to installation, or $300 if you are seeking finance for the installation via Green Loans, TEELS (Tasmanian Energy Efficiency Loan Scheme), NILS (No Interest Loan Scheme) or similar. HEG has a policy of 100% refund if you choose to cancel or post-pone the installation indefinitely, although we reserve the right to keep any credit card processing fees that may have been incurred.
